UP Fighting Maroons

I first learned about the Fighting Maroons font from a font identification request at Dafont.com. I later found out that the font is named Maroon Sans Narrow that was designed by AJ Dimarucot and commissioned by nowheretogobutUP Foundation, Inc. for the use of the University of the Philippines sports program, the Fighting Maroons. However, the font was only released in vector format. I am not aware of its existence in any other format.

I decided to do the font based on that font ID request. I searched for samples of the font in social media sites and image banks and was able to find almost all the characters except for letters V and Q. I then found a copy of the original design of Maroon Sans Narrow and noticed that some letters were different from those in actual use. There is also a Heavy version of the font. Since only Maroon Sans Narrow is currently used in Fighting Maroons jersey, I decided to just do this style. I also expanded the font's character set.

I was about to release the font but decided to ask permission from nowheretogobutUP Foundation, Inc. first. I will not release the font unless I get that permission from the copyright owner. Until now I have not heard from them so the font will remain for my own use only. Sorry about that.

The latest version of the original Fighting Maroons font can now be downloaded from the official Maroons Type website.

For those who want to support the UP Fighting Maroons, please do so through nowheretogobutUP Foundation, Inc.

The original image of the UP Women's Volleyball Team shown above came from the image gallery at nowheretogobutup.ph. I found that while looking for a clear specimen of the number 4.
